Nooshin Farhid - 'Idols and Heroes'
Medium: Digital Print
Edition: 4 of 10
Dimensions: 29 x 20cm
Date: 2008
Nooshin Farhid was born in Tehran, Iran and lives in London; she studied Fine Art at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design. She has been involved in a number of exhibitions, screenings and festivals internationally and most recently at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin in July 2010.
This is an original image which comes as part of Farhid’s research for the video ’16 Hours’ which she undertook in 2008. The research for the video involved visiting a number of sites in London which included an Afghani Cafe. The Cafe interior was decorated by a wide number of cultural icons including Imam Ali (Shia Islam icon), James Dean, Muhammad Ali, Bob Marley. These were interspersed with the everyday objects which were sold in the cafe.
