The Minack Theatre must be one of the most beautifully located theatres in the world, situated as it is jutting out above the sea at Porthcurno Bay in Cornwall. The open air theatre looks as though it might have been built by the Romans, but it is in fact the work of a 20^th century woman - Rowena Cade. 

Mrs Cade died in 1983 and since then the theatre has been run by a local trust. Shakespeare has always been a main stay of the theatre but its repertoire includes musicals, operas and concerts. Highlights of the 2012 programme include The Sound of Music, the Proms, and productions of Peter Pan, Die Fledermaus and Macbeth.
