CloseLot Description
Scotland’s first commercial gold mine opens in 2013, and this is a unique experience for two people to visit the mine before production commences. You will walk through the addit tunnel and follow the quartz vein for 2km.
See how the mine will operate and how the gold will be produced. You will have the opportunity to pan for gold, although no gold can be guaranteed!
The mine is expected to produce unrefined gold bars and identifiable as ‘Scottish Gold’, attracting a premium for jewellers and goldsmiths due to its scarcity and uniqueness should it be manufactured into jewellery.
The mine is located at Cononish near Tyndrum. The owners of the mine are Scotgold who have kindly donated £150 towards travel and accommodation if required. You will need suitable footwear (Wellington or climbing boots), but hard hats and headlamps will be provided!
A golden wonder ‘money can’t buy’ experience - not open to the public.
