The World Land Trust (WLT) is an international conservation organisation working to preserve the world's most biologically important and threatened lands by buying it, acre by acre.  The land purchased by the World Land Trust is protected indefinitely, as private reserves owned and managed by local organisations, for the benefit of both wildlife and people.  Since its foundation 21 years ago, WLT has helped fund the purchase and protection of over 400,000 acres (162,000 ha) of threatened wildlife habitats.
