St John Ambulance is the leading first aid training provider in the UK and the third largest youth organisation. Alongside our first aid training we have 43,000 volunteers who provide first aid cover at all major UK events, treating approximately 130, 000 people each year.

St John Ambulance responds to hundreds of local incidents and major accidents each year, playing a crucial role in helping the emergency services when it is needed. We were on hand to help after the London bombings of 2005 providing more than 120 volunteers and staff, 37 ambulances, 20 mobile treatment centres and numerous specialist vehicles to support the London Ambulance service. More recently throughout June and July 2007 our volunteers worked to help support communities hit by heavy flood water, providing vehicles and rest centres for those people being evacuated from their homes.

In addition to our first aid activities and services that we undertake, we also run a range of community support programmes, which focus on health and social care in the community. Projects are underway in specific areas and include our Cheshire young carers' project, Brighton homeless services and day care centres in Northumbria amongst others.
